DIGITAL STORYTELLING!

This week's topic was digital storytelling. What is digital storytelling then?

A digital story is a multimedia presentation combining a variety of digital elements within a narrative structure. Media may include text, images, video, audio as well.

Three weeks before we were given some options such as creating a PSA, a how-to project, and a fictional story and this work was a group work as well. Merve and I decided to work together on this task. Later on, we chose to create a fictional story. After decided on the theme we started to build our script and used Pixton for this purpose.

Pixton is a cartoon creating tool which allows its users to create fantastic comics. It helps you to build and place characters in a range of roles.

There are also numerous backgrounds and effects

available to include. Finally, once you set the stage

you can add text in speech or thought bubbles. Yet this site doesn't offer very good and effective features for free. It is very limited. Whenever we tried to add something very cool it wasn't free 😕

Merve and I really enjoyed it when we were creating all the characters, the settings, and the text. Because of the limited time we had to exclude some parts After writing our comic we recorded our voices. We got a little bit of help from Merve's little brother as well for narrating one of the characters named Billy. The hardest part for me was putting them all together. Thank God Merve stepped in here and she sure did a wonderful job for putting our work altogether.       ( Thank you Mervee 💜)

Digital storytelling is a powerful tool for educators and also for students. We can set up tasks and create assignments specific to our classroom's needs. I am sure this kind of tools grab students' attention more and make them desire to collaborate in the task.
