CORPUS- BASED TEACHING!

This week's task was creating corpus-based teaching materials for the high school prep class.

What is  Corpus?                                                                    

Corpus is a set of linguistic data 

(usually stored in a computer database) 

that is used for study and teaching in linguistics. Plural: Corpora.

Data-driven learning and language awareness task 

Data-driven learning is a method in which students read a lot of authentic language try to figure out linguistics structure and principles on their own. Using this technology students become as it were language researchers to make their learning process more permanent and meaningful. As a result, they become aware of the language.

For this purpose, Merve and I came together and worked on these worksheets. Our aim was to enable them to see the real language usage in the corpus and ensure that they achieve the desired outcome on their own. To see our worksheets please click Language_Awarness_task
